The Great Wall of China
Was origionally constructed after the warring states period during the Qin dynasty
The wall was a reinforcement of the existing walls built along the northern end of the empire
these walls were built by the lords of the territories in the Warring states period
Was not a huge continuous wall
Was multiple walls costructed with on sight materials with natural fortifications in between them
In the mountains the walls were stone
In the planes the walls were earthen with boarded fronts
the natural fortifications included rivers, mountains, and other impassible terrain
Multiple other dynasties such as the Han, Sui, and Jin dynasty spent a lot of effort to repair, rebuild, mantain the wall
Modern great wall was not built until the Ming dynasty
Stronger because was built entirely of bricks
Estimated that 1 million workers died in the construction of the Great Wall of China
